Don’t miss Anselm Keifer at RA and Bill Viola at St Paul’s

Two of my favourite artist’s have shows in London at the moment.
On at the Royal Academy until 14 December 2014, Anselm Keifer’s exhibition is simply breath taking in scale and depth of meaning. Give yourself plenty of time and silence to experience the meaning and elements. The sunflowers steal the show but probably not as you know them.

If you arrive 15 minutes early and queue at St Paul’s Cathedral for showings at precisely 11.30am and 2.15pm, you get guided directly to Bill Viola’s 4 screen ‘Martys’ videos. Touching the moment of death and a certain sacredness using the four elements via video installation is stunning. Located at the Rear wing next to an American Memorial chapel provides an area of contemplation and quietness to watch several cycles of the loop. Apparently in 2015, a second installation, called ‘Mary’, will be a companion work.

Next cross the Millenium footbridge (look out for the miniature chewing gum artworks on the bridge) to Tate Modern and on Level 2 to see the other Bill Viola installation ‘tiny deaths’.
